British
serial killer Rosemary West is pictured in the early 1970’s,
advertising herself as a prostitute named “Mandy” in magazines. Her
husband Fred West actively encouraged her to sleep with other men, and
three of their eight children would be born to different clients.
Rosemary was accused of murdering at least 10 women alongside Fred, many of them runaways or hitch-hikers whom they sexually tortured for hours before burying their bodies the the backyard or cellar of their home. They were caught when a search of their garden yielded the corpse of their own daughter, Heather, who had been missing for years and the object of a morbid joke in the home - if any of the West children misbehaved, they were told they would “end up under the patio like Heather”.
