Image of public looking on as police search the apartment of serial killer and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer. The search of the apartment revealed 4 severed heads, 7 skulls, some bleached or painted, 2 entire skeletons, a pair of severed hands, human blood on a tray that was collecting drippings from Dahmer’s refrigerator, 2 human hearts, a portion of arm muscle wrapped on the shelves of the fridge, an entire torso  and bag of organs in the freezer, 2 severed and preserved penises, a mummified scalp, and three more torsos dissolving in acid in a 57-gallon drum. The medical examiner stated that the search of Dahmer’s apartment ‘was more like dismantling someone’s museum than an actual crime scene.’

The apartment complex would be demolished the following year, leaving behind a vacant lot. Most of Dahmer’s murders occurred in this apartment, with 12 of his 17 victims dying on the premises. Plans to change the vacant lot into a memorial never materialised.
