In 2011 in Pakistan, a 24-year-old local woman died from throat cancer and was buried in a local cemetery. When her family went to visit her grave, they noticed that it had been dug up and she was missing. A police investigation led to Mohammad Arif Ali and his brother, Mohammed Farman Ali. Inside the home, they discovered a cooking pot filled with human flesh and curry along with an axe and kitchen knife dotted with human fat. Under the bed, they found the remainder of her dismembered body.
The two brothers confessed that they had been digging up corpses for a couple of years and feasting on their flesh. It was estimated they had grave-robbed up to 100 graves. Considering there is no law against cannibalism in Pakistan, they only served two years in prison for desecrating a grave before being released. Due to an outrage from citizens, police initially had to take them into protective custody to prevent them from being lynched.
In 2014, neighbours reported a putrid smell wafting from the home of the two brothers in Darya Khan in Punjab Province. Police arrived and raided the home and found a gruesome discovery: the head of a 3-year-old boy. The two brothers confessed that they had cooked the boy’s body and served it up in a curry. This time, however, they were sentenced to 11 years and four months.
