The Björketorp runestone (to the right) is one of the world’s tallest, measuring 4,2 m in height, and forms an imposing sight together with the two high uninscribed menhirs. The runic inscriptions that appears on both sides were made in the 6th or the 7th century in Proto-Norse.

“HaidR runo runu, falh’k hedra ginnarunaR. Argiu hermalausR, … weladauþe, saR þat brytR. Uþarba spa.”

“I, master of the runes conceal here runes of power. Incessantly (plagued by) maleficence, (doomed to) insidious death (is) he who breaks this (monument). I prophesy destruction.”
