A Warm Cup of Assholes is a project by poet Ben John Smith and musician Michael James Christian. Recorded exclusively on their iPhones, Ben would recite his poetry and send it to Michael who would then compose music using various apps, the finished product has been described as "a quasi-confessional soundscape of menacing tenderness"*. The initial reaction has been extremely positive amongst the poetry community so they are wanting to push it onto a wider audience of people who may have dismissed poetry - it can be real, honest and relevant while being funny and depressing at the same time. A special release of A Warm Cup of Assholes is available as a hand made vinyl record. The cover is hand constructed and the vinyl is cut individually, in real time using a lathe diamond stylus guided by hand. Due to the nature of this, no two records will be the same and there will be slight variations in both artwork and recording that we cannot control, but we think this adds to the charm. Each copy of the album comes with a digital download code, two stickers and liner notes including all poems by Ben. Additionally, A Warm Cup of Assholes will also be available on casette which also has a hand made element to it - the initial run of cassettes are dubbed, old school style using a CD/Tape deck and the covers are all hand finished. There are 6 different covers and one will be chosen at random when posting. All cassettes come with a digital download code. The album is also available as a digital download directly from Bandcamp.
