Ed
Gein was arrested 58 years ago today in Plainfield, WI after the
remains of a local hardware owner were found on his property. After his
mother’s death in 1945, Ed began exhuming the remains of recently
deceased women who reminded him of her. He felt as though he had the
power to resurrect the dead. Spiritland Cemetery, just a few minutes
north of Plainfield near the town of Almond, is one of three cemeteries
where Gein desecrated graves to procure body parts for his ghastly
hobbies. The cemetery got its name because a man claimed to commune with
the spirit of his wife there after her burial. Numerous reports of
paranormal experiences in the cemetery have lead some to believe that
Gein’s tampering left the spirits restless in Spiritland.Photo via cultofweird
