According to legend, during the 1920’s there was a man popular with the ladies named Tom who lived in Tennessee. It was said that he met a special girl from a neighbouring town and became close with her, not knowing she was married. At one point, the girl’s husband caught wind of Tom and his wife fooling around. Enraged, he thought up a plan of revenge. He told his wife he was away at the weekend for business but in reality, he was hiding out in the woods near their home. The husband saw Tom drive over to their house and his wife get in the car where the couple began kissing. The husband came from the woods and stabbed his wife in the stomach and dragged Tom from the car, screaming he had no idea that the girl was married. The husband would not listen and skinned Tom alive. The husband then drove to the local police station and explained what had happened. Authorities drove to the house to find the girl alive, but Tom was missing.
Local legend says Skinned Tom hangs around Lovers’ Lane. He is often described as a skeleton, dripping in blood, wearing 1920’s clothing. He carries a knife, ready to punish any adulterers he may encounter.

"Drunk at the matinee" is a collection of candid poetry about stupid shit that we all experience from day to day.
