By the end of this video, you'll be looking up chemical supplies websites to get your hand on your own vial of ferrofluid and a neodymium magnet to play around with. It's really quite something to look at.

If you've ever wanted to show your kid the way a magnetic field actually arcs around between a magnet's two poles, this ferrofluid method isn't a half bad way of demonstrating it. The black liquid seems to come alive with strange spiky patterns, instead of just simply sliding to the side of the bottle where the magnet is being held. It's pretty remarkable.
