Sylvia Plath was an American poet, novelist, and short-story writer.

Plath was found dead on February 11 1963 after placing her head in the
oven, with the gas turned on. She had sealed the kitchen with wet towels
and cloths to stop carbon monoxide leaking out to where her children
lay sleeping in the next room.
