The creator of Adidas was a former member of the Nazi party in Germany named Adolf Dassler. His nickname was “Adi” and “das” was the first three letters of his last name.
The Adidas name was registered in August,1949, after Adolf and Rudolf had a falling out, which led to them not wanting to work for the family business any longer. They went their separate ways and started up their own companies.
His brother started Puma, which has been in competition with Adidas ever since.
My horrible typos and silly word slinging has been painstakingly edited by my good friend and fellow writer for HST, Ian Shearer; with special thanks to Mike Daily for being such a dude. This is not the collection of artists featured in HST over the past few months, this is a book i started long before the HST was even thought about.
