British serial killer Dale Cregan

Dale Cregan’s killing spree began on May 25th, 2012. Cregan donned a balaclava and walked into the Cotton Tree pub in Droylsden armed with a handgun. He opened fire inside the pub, killing Mark Short (23). A police manhunt for Cregan began but he was able to evade the authorities for months.

Despite successfully lying low for almost three months, Dale Cregan decided to kill again on August 10th. On this day he shot 46 year old David Short (the father of his first victim) nine times. Cregan then threw a M75 hand grenade on to Short’s body, decimating it.

Dale Cregan’s killing spree came to a head on September 18th, 2012. Even after killing twice, the police were unable to catch the multiple killer after another month passed. It was at this point that Dale Cregan decided to target police officers; having hated the police force almost all his life.

Cregan was calm and collected as he made a hoax 999 call to the Greater Manchester Police Department claiming someone had vandalised his home. The responding officers were PC Nicola Hughes (23) and PC Fiona Bone (32). They responded to what they believed to be a routine call - and were ambushed as they walked down the garden path.
Cregan opened fire on the officers from inside the house, shooting 32 bullets in total. He also threw an M75 hand grenade at the officers. Both were killed. It was only at this point that Dale Cregan’s killing spree concluded. He attended a nearby police station wherein he confessed to all four murders.

He is currently alive aged 34. Cregan has been in the news again recently after new pictures of him surfaced inside the Ashworth high-security psychiatric hospital. Inside, Cregan claimed to live a luxurious life wherein he could go kayaking, eat pizza and play tennis at will. He has recently been returned to HM Prison Manchester wherein it is alleged he now lives almost exclusively in his cell as a £20k bounty purportedly exists on his one remaining eye.
