When you are really good at something, your brain shows little activity for it. Take learning how to ride a bike for example. When you first start, you’re conscious and you concentrate. Your brain spends a lot of time and energy paying attention to detail. After awhile, it just becomes automatic and your brain doesn’t need to spend all that energy anymore. So smarter brains don’t always have to work harder, they just need to work better.
