The Tana Toraja tribe in Indonesia are known for their “Baby Trees.” They follow a death ritual in which when a baby dies before teething, they are wrapped up in a cloth and placed inside a hole in the Baby Tree. The hole is then sealed up with palm fiber so that the tree shall heal; they believe the child is then absorbed by nature.
