George Peter Metesky photographed in jail. In the 1940s, Metesky terrorised New York City with a spate of bombings, planting explosives in theaters, terminals, libraries, and offices. His strange demeanour earnt him his nickname “The Mad Bomber” and he avoided a harsher sentence by reason of insanity. Instead, Metesky was transferred to a state mental hospital where he lived until he was 90.
